A case of recovery from Relapse of Breast Cancer
Li Mi Wan (From Hong Kong) Age:
51 Occupation: Beautician
I had breast cancer in 2000 and after an operation to remove
the tumour, I had to undergo chemotherapy twelve times. Afterwards the doctor
said that I needed to take anti-cancer drugs continuously for five years.
Unfortunately I had a relapse in 2002 and after another surgical operation, I
had six rounds of chemotherapy and 25 rounds of radiotherapy. At that time, my
white blood cell count index dropped to 0.2 (the normal range should be between
4.0 and 11.0). The doctor very frankly told me that the prognosis of my illness
was not good. After the series of therapy, I needed to take anti-cancer drugs
which led to side effects such as Eustachian disorder. After being tortured by
my illnesses for an extensive period of time, my physique became very weak, and
I frequently had ‘flu and diarrhea. I didn’t even have confidence to go out or
cross the road. At that time, my doctor instructed me to change for another
anti-cancer drug which would have the side-effect of bringing about osteoporosis
in the patient. In order to safeguard myself, I then tried taking Chinese
medicine to improve my physique, but it did not seem to have much effect. I just
did not understand why after following the doctor’s instruction in taking
anti-cancer drugs, I still had a relapse.
In the past five years or so, I had suffered a lot.
Emotionally I had been in constant depression, and had cried until my tears
dried up umpteenth times. Fortunately upon the recommendations of Ms Doreen
Leung, columnist of the Hong Kong Economic Times, I learned about Taiji Five
Elements Self Recovery Program (TFESRP) in 2004. After taking a 6-day Basic
course taught by WISH President Ms Christina Chiu, I started practising for 8
hours every day. After two and a half months, my physique had improved and my
emotions had become more stable. Afterwards I joined the qi-gong fasting and
air-ingesting therapy, during which time I had totally stopped the medicine, but
on the contrary, there was marked improvement in my health conditions and I felt
much better than before physically and emotionally. In mid December of 2004, I
went back to the hospital for consultation. The result of the doctor’s
examination indicated that the place where I was found to have a relapse of
breast cancer was completely clear.
Master He once said, ”We should face anything that happens to
us positively. The essence of this series of qi-gong is to train and shape our
mind and mindset. Training our body to focus on the practice is only secondary.
People who have health problems should for all the more reasons put their mind
and heart into the philosophical principles in following this series of qi-gong”.
We need to treat ourselves kindly, and give ourselves more
chances and rights to choose. I am extremely confident in this series of qi-gong
and will continue the practice to reinforce the effects of my rehabilitation, so
that I can regain control of my own health. Finally, I would like to express my
heartfelt gratitude to WISH President Ms Chiu, my fellow course mates and the
staff in WISH for their care and support!
